If you have a question that isn’t covered below, please get in touch.

What is “responsive” or “mobile-friendly” web design?

Responsive web design (or mobile-friendly web design) is a technique used to ensure that your website automatically adjusts to fit the size of whatever device your visitors are using. In other words, your web site is intelligent enough to detect when it is being displayed on anything from a smartphone to a tablet to a desktop computer, and it adjusts the content accordingly.

That’s why we offer Web Site Packages offering anything from simple brochure sites, to online shopping sites with a CMS (content management system). How long will it take to build my web site?

If you have a tight deadline to meet before launching your site, then we’ll always do our best to work within that timeframe. In general, you should allow approximately 4–8 weeks from initial planning to the final launch. Of course, each project varies and we’ll give you an indication of the expected timeframe when we provide you with a quote.

The best way to speed up the process is to ensure you have all of your content (images, text, etc.) ready and well-prepared in advance of us starting the work. So, if you’re still only ‘considering’ a web site at this point, then now’s the perfect time to start writing your content.

What’s involved in getting a website?

We work remotely with clients from any location, so although we’re physically based in Auckland, we can work with you no matter where you’re based. As a client, the process of getting a website is simple. You basically provide us with the content we need to start building your site. During the sites development, we’ll keep in touch to make sure you’re happy with the progress.

For us, there’s approximately 7 steps that we will go through when developing your web site, from the first step of “Information Gathering” through to the final step of providing “Support & Maintenance”.

Our background in the search engine industry gives us incredible insight into the best practices for SEO (search engine optimisation) and ranking well in searches. We dedicate a lot of hours to fine-tuning the content on your web site so that your targeted keywords generate traffic. We’ll go over some important points throughout the planning and development of your site to ensure this area gets the attention it deserves.

Do you provide web hosting and domain name registration?

We don’t provide web hosting services or domain name registration ourselves, but we will help you find a suitable web host or domain name registrar. Of course, if you already have a web host, we can work with your existing host to get your web site up and running, no problem at all. Some web design agencies will provide domain name registration and web hosting by way of a reseller account they’ve established with third-parties. This means, you’re effectively paying more to a ‘middle man’. We have no interest in that whatsoever, which is why we give you the option to pick whatever host you like.

Please contact us if you have any questions about web hosting or domain names.

Do I have ownership of my finished web site?

A web site is multifaceted in terms of all the things that come together to make it work. Any original content you provide to us for your website will remain yours. Similarly, the website files that we create (including the HTML, CSS, and JavaScript source code, etc.) is yours to own, too. Sometimes third-party source code and scripts are required to enhance the features of your site. These scripts are usually general use licenses but must maintain a copyright notice from the script’s author. In this case the script doesn’t belong to either of us, but we have rights to use the script on your site. Basically, everything that you rightfully should own, you will own.

If you have any questions about ownership, please contact us.
